stones in Horn-Bad Meinberg
The 40 meters high legendary rock group between Horn
and Berlebeck is a grand nature and cultur memorial. In its art the descent from the cross
embossment is the biggest german stonemasonry of 1130. Main rock ascenting is possible.

Euope's oldest and biggest birds of prey center with special zoo (80
animals), free flight presentation (among other things free flying vultures with almost
three meters wingspan) is the birds of prey center Berlebeck – in the middle of the
Teutoburg Forest.
Opening hours of the birds of prey center Berlebeck:
March 15 to October 3: daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Free flights at 11:00 a.m. and
3:00 p.m.,
starting on May 1, additionaly at 4:30 p.m.
November 1 to March 14: daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., free flights at 11:00 a.m. and
2:30 p.m. (status 1997)
Hermann's monument by Detmold
the town's landmark from Detmold – constructed in 1875 to
commemorate the battle in the Teutoburg Forest A.D. 9 between
Germans and the Romans through Ernst of Bandel. The 53 meters hight monument can be
ascended.
Opening hours: daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (March to October), daily
from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00p.m. (November to February)
Entrance fee: 2 DM (status 1997)
Visit the information center at the Hermannsdenkmal with a cinema show about the land
Lippe and the construction of the Hermann's monument. The entrance fee is free (status
1997).
Open-air museum of Westphalia Detmold
biggest open-air museum of Germany, over 80 hectares (197,7
acres), complete outfitted historical building from northern Germany. Horse shoeing and
old baking techniques are showed daily.
Opening hours: April 1 to the end of October, daily besides Mondays 9:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m. (status 1997)
Historical princely Residenzschloß Detmold
Weser renaissance castle in the center of the old town, 16th
century, architecture jewellry, tapestry and king's hall shows of the
glamour of the old Lippish Residence. Big historical hunting weapon collection and a rare
porcellan collection. Residence of the family of the prince of Lippe.
Sightseeing, entrance fee 6 DM.

State Museum Detmold
In 1835 the Detmold citizins established "Nature
historical collection for the princedom Lippe". Today a rich collection for state and
culture history, nature education and prehistory, exhibition area 4,500 square meters
(about 5381.10 square yards) with nationwide importance. Sightseeings, large livery
collection.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 10:a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday to 8:00
p.m., Mondays day off (status 1997).
Detmold town guidance
Tour (through the historical old town) on foot; length of
time: a maximum of 2 hours. Starting point: Entrance Schlosspark opposite the regional
theater. Guidances in every weather.
Old town guidance for single people: April 6 to October 27, 2000 Saturdays
at 10:00 a.m. and Sundays at 11:00 a.m.
Minimum number of participants: 8 people. Costs: adults 4.- DM, students 2.-
DM, family card 10.- DM.

Bird park and flower park Heiligenkirchen
Parks, ocean of flowers, local and exotic birds of the whole
world in 120 aviaries and open-air enclosures. Opening hours: March 1 to October 31, 9:00
a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (status 1997).
